Courtney Love is a weirdo, but I totally subscribe to a line she yelled once at the beginning of a performance during one of the warmer months, "I f_ckin' hate the summer, put a sweater on." Between May and August, if I happen to meet a guy I like and we hit it off, I'm still not that likely to sleep at his place cuz summer time means hot stale air and night sweats - he rolls toward me to throw an arm over, and I shove him away and rant, "you're making my side hot, get off!" This compilation however defies my usual habits and makes me all nostalgic for warm nights and groovy beats. I get all snuggly as soon as the temperature drops because I'm no longer fated to marinate in my own juice, but after playing this compilation I think I'd be willing to deal with a couple more of those hot, prickly afternoon naps if it meant I could experience just once more this kind of sunny paradise mood in an evening out. As with all Ministry of Sound comps, it's filled to the brim with everything that's good from the last couple months, as well as a handful of vinyl-only mixes you wouldn't be able to get otherwise. Put away the flannel sheets, stick the pea coat back in the closet, pop this in your CD player and pour yourself a Mai Tai, this one's a passport to a July day anytime you want it.
