Average review: 4.0/5.0 (6 reviews) Great productions here! Enough to make you look closer and wonder why the film even considered using vocalists with less of a caliber - the divas on this CD can sing! Jim Gilstrap does a wonderful job also. They have the years of training and used it well. Gianatos places these songs back on the dance floor with the right music and vocalists. Thank goodness! Kudos to Altair for bringing a sound that is for connoisseurs of dance music! (G.R., 4/11/2007 see all my reviews >> )

I've been waiting for this for so long after watching the video clips on YouTube and hearing the music clips on the DreamGirlsDanceProject dot com website. Even though it is pricey because it is an import [this is negligible, of course, when I think of all the Japanese imports I buy], it is worth it just to have a new Hodges, James and Smith Track. "Move" is practically a throwaway song in the play and the movie, but here it is a standout gospel-flavored dance track! The other song that makes it worth the purchase for me is Scherrie Payne singing "It's So Hard to Say Goodbye," which is "Someday We'll be Together" with a big beat. [Of course, I could love Scherrie singing the phone book.]
I have the original cast album, the deluxe movie edition, and I am very happy to add this to my collection along side the other two. (C.M., 4/5/2007 see all my reviews >> )
This is a well-produced, creative CD that brings a fresh approach to some songs that are currently popular from the hit movie and play. The vocal performances are all strong and the concept is worthy. Unlike the early poster, I feel that this CD is actually a terrific and appropriate companion piece to the soundtrack CD. Please note that these tracks are in the "dance genre," rather than show music. If this is a "cash cow," then I say, "Mooooooo!" This CD is high quality, fun music woith listening to over and over. Former Supreme Scherrie Payne is outstanding, as always ... her voice is smooth and expressive. Lynda Laurence, another former Supreme, wails! ... as do Charlotte Crossley, SJH, and others. Thanks to Rick G. for this addition to my collection! p.s. It makes a cool gift, too! (J.H., 4/5/2007 see all my reviews >> )
I am sorry, but I think, if you already have the double CD soundtrack, you really don't need to get this. Save your money. (W.A., 4/6/2007 see all my reviews >> )
Cash Cow goes Moooooo.... seriously, if you have the 2 disc version of the film soundtrack you are set. This is just an attempt to get your money... If you are looking to invest in more Dreamgirls stuff, look for the Rosabel featuring Jennifer Holliday single to And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going, that was released a few years ago.
