Pepper Mashay & The Electric Illusion: Beauty Shop (The Remixes)

Domestic CD Single This title is no longer available on CD.

Like camp being sent to summer camp, Pepper Mashay's latest offering is just as extreme and sassy as Dive In The Pool, except in this case the bodies of liquid inferred are huge, industrial-sized vats of cholesterol, shallow shampoo sink bowls and the puddles of happy tears from all the laughter shared 'round the girls at the beauty shop. I haven't seen the movie, but I just watched Barber Shop 1 and 2 and I'm totally in awe of this culture. Pepper Mashay's kitschy lyrics are spread across a wealth of remixes on this maxi, so regardless what the context you can find a way to work this song into any musical setting. And now that I'm thinking about it, the best comparison I can think of for this is RuPaul's "Back to my Roots". How 'bout a duet ladies?

Average review:  2.5/5.0 (9 reviews)

I just saw Pepper perform "Beauty Shop" live in NY in front of hundreds of her REAL fans and I can tell you first hand that everyone LOVES this song! The few on this site who have left a negative message are not Pepper fans. They are the same ones leaving negative messages about ALL the artists on this site. (i.e. the same ones leaving 1 liner messages telling Madonna to retire, etc.) "G.C." you should be ashamed of yourself for personally insulting someone who you claim to be a fan of. Peppers hair looks wonderful! (PS - the 1 liner you wrote is not a "review" of the album). I received my ordered copy of "Beauty Shop", and I absolutely love this song, the remixes and production! Everything is Excellent! Pepper's fans completely connected to this song at her show in N.Y. I saw that first hand. So "S.B." you need to stop trying to speak for Peppers fans, you are only 1 person so don't try to speak for other people. It's so obvious you are trying use Pepper's success of "Beauty Shop" to promote your own song. LOL! Why don't you just wait until you release it to talk about it, so the negative minded people can leave negative messages about your song too? Pay-back's a bitch, huh? LOL! TO: "M.W." - I have been following Pepper's career for years and have been to many of her shows, yes the caliber of "Beauty Shop" is way beyond and above "I Got My Pride". What did you expect her to keep coming out with the same song over and over again? LOL! Variety is the spice of life! "J.L.", Beauty Shop is a comedy movie, not a musical, get it? How could anyone not know that? LOL! Does anybody remember laughter? LOL! Lastly, (and this has been said in many of the other arists review sections on this site) some of these negative minded people on here just need to relax, dance, have a good time, that's what life is all about. "P.H.", Beauty Shop already is a hit song. (R.F., 12/19/2005 see all my reviews >> )

I'm liking this new track. I just wish that Queen Latifa herself would have dropped some vocals on it. Stand out remixes are contest winner Infinite Beat and DJ Blain meets Hefty Lefty. (B.H., 11/21/2005 see all my reviews >> )

Pepper is the shit ! ... This single is better than the movie, but Pepper deserves a full-length CD of her own ... This diva has paid her dues ... (D.P., 11/13/2005 see all my reviews >> )

There are a couple of pretty decent remixes of "Beauty Shop" on this new single from Pepper Mashay and The Electric Illusion. Worth a listen. (W.A., 11/10/2005 see all my reviews >> )

This is not on the same caliber as I GOT MY PRIDE (M.W., 11/17/2005 see all my reviews >> )

I received my ordered copy of Beauty Shop this afternoon, cannot describe my disapointment in the song, the remixes and production. In my eyes, most Pepper fans, and she has lots of them, aren't going to connect to this. I'm going to set in aside and review it again in a week or so hopefully I'll have a different view on it. They need to release her upcoming single WORK IT OUT soon! I have a preleased demo of it and its exactly what you want from Pepper! Until then... (b.b., 11/22/2005 see all my reviews >> )

I don't get it! Is there a musical coming out? This should have been swept out with the hair. (J.L., 11/14/2005 see all my reviews >> )

 Hmmm...this is "hair-ific". DJ Mark Bisson (M.B., 11/11/2005 see all my reviews >> )

Pepper Mashay needs another hit real bad! -- DJ X. (P.H., 11/10/2005 see all my reviews >> )
