It's great to see such an iconic band get a very well produced Greatest Hits Compilation. It could have been very easy for the label to put out a single disc oh the "biggest hits that fit on one disc" as so many do. But in this case, they covered all there "hits" and hits don't just mean those in the US, another major problem with US compilations as well as giving artists the unfortunate moniker of "one hit wonder". An artist can have 10 #1 hits in the UK, and only 1 top 10 hit in the US and we call them a "One Hit Wonder." It's unfortunate, inaccurate and insulting. The US music industry needs to be less self centric and realize we are "not" the end all and be all of the music industry in the world. With that said, this compilation goes fairly far back in the Brother's Gibb's career. In addition, not only do we get some very well produced undated remixes of some of their biggest hits, but we get original 12" singles digitally remastered. The only thing that would have made this compilation perfect, was that if they supplied digitally remastered versions of all of the original 12" singles. But listen up US Record Labels, this is how you put out a GREATEST HITS compilation. And now that most of you (labels) are too cheap to even put out CD's, you have less reasons not to but out better compilations. Take the money you're not spending on manufacturing and spend more money on re-mastering and put it all out digitally. The market is out there for it, will support, and demands it.  Ladies & gentlemen, this is a reissue of the original double-LP RSO-era album from 1979 that has been availible as a clunky two-CD set for years now. Granted, the Bee Gees camp has been cranking out compilations for many years, but this one simply spans the "second coming" from 1975-1979. All of the bonus tracks are new to this version. It's worth mentioning that they have been doing a superb job of remastering the catalogue in recent years. The new remixes are okay, but as mentioned, NOTHING can touch the original 12" mixes & that is something that would really be a blast to compile. It's nice to have a crisp 12" mix of "Stayin' Alive" with the additional sequences here(despite tons of alternate mixes over the years)...but if you need ONE reason to buy this release, and one reason only, it all boils down to one track (naturally): "Warm Ride". The original, unreleased, straight-up disco version (a la "More Than A Woman")that didn't make the original version of this album...it was later rerecorded for Andy Gibb's third album "After Dark" (which also has "Rest Your Love On Me" as a killer duet with Olivia Newton-John...Andy frequently recycled his brothers' demos) (K.A., 9/29/2007 see all my reviews >> )

I've always been a big fan of the Brothers Gibb...even if "Saturday Night Fever" helped contribute to the eventual demise of the whole disco movement. I'm not overly impressed with the new remixes on here, and the short length of them. DJ Mark Bisson (M.B., 9/27/2007 see all my reviews >> )

OK I like their music. I already had these songs somewhere... so I don't see anything special about this 2CD set -- DJ X. (P.H., 9/27/2007 see all my reviews >> )

The new remixes are nothing special, but this is still a pretty nice Bee Gees Greatest Hits compilation. (W.A., 9/27/2007 see all my reviews >> )

I'm just fascinated by the way some bands release an endless string of compilations. This is the third one from Bee Gees in about 5 years. There was a double CD, "Record", and 2 years back there was one named "Number Ones" This time 'round it's to celebrate the "Saturday Night Fever" success 30 years ago. I think it's more the company than the actual group most of the times. Abba & Donna Summer are another acts with the same problem. Usually there's some previosly unavailable mix or track added each time out. A few years back Michael Jackson was about to release a string of CD singles with complete mixes in Australia. Thriller would have included the unreleased mixes by Morales/Knuckles & Tenaglia. Billie Jean had mixes by Tony Moran. A week before released they where withdrawn in favour for the "Number Ones" collection. (The 3 rd collection in 3 years that was followed by the "Essential" collection a year later.) Sometime you wonder what kinda schmucks they got sittin' up in them companies... Back to the Bee Gees... Great songs - no effort! (D.A., 9/27/2007 see all my reviews >> )
