There's no better feeling than to see a mission finally accomplished. Debby came to Perfect Beat saying she wanted to be a dance diva. We made a few phone, made some connections and this is what the result was. Now of course we can't take all the credit for this outcome as without Debby amazing voice, her passion and persistency, the remixers interest and talent, this project may have never developed. But it is nice to see all the stars align and a quality production prevails. Chris Cox does an outstanding job keeping that "Thunderpuss" sound alive, our bud Scotty K injects his classic house vibe, and Scott Anderson of Solar City fame takes the track and puts a dark, dirty, dubby sound to it. Sure to appear on every DJ's top 10 chart, not to mention a home on Billboards top dance tracks over the next few months! Congratulations Debby!

Jamie's Review:

I could never say too much about Debby Holiday's "Dive". I first saw Debby when she sang the theme song for a small play on Melrose called "The Trials and Tribulations of a Trailer Trash Housewife" by Del Shores. I was so moved by her performance at that point that I devoted a page in my sketchbook to gesture drawings of her and lyrics from the song. When that kind of talent is combined with Chris Cox's legendary production, the product will be the one song you remember from a night of clubbing every time. The lyrics speak to anyone and everyone by referencing insecurity and dissatisfaction but heal the wounds it uncovers with an uplifting chorus that not only brings you up but catapults you high into the clouds. Scotty K's mix is replaces Chris' percussion with guitars and synth riffs, and while not quite as peak, has it's own charm that feels like a reassuring hug. Solar City gets all dubby and makes the track accessible to an after hours crowd with a darkness that still lets the light shine through enough to spark a smile. The original is included as well, and though it's more rock toned, don't you dare just skip it cuz it doesn't have the word "remix" after it. Debby, I wanna birth your babies.

Be sure to check out Debby's full length "Half A MIle Away".

THIS is the Circuit incarnate! Chris Cox proves Thunderpuss can live on through him after the break up(this mix actually reminds me of "Six Feet under" with that winding horn!) Def Chris Cox's best solo remix since Pusaka "I'm addicted!" (Joey Benitez, 6/7/2007 see all my reviews >> )

This track is still doing it for me. The lyrics are great, the music's uplifting, and the vocal is powerful. If, as one reviewer put it, this track is very "1999," then I encourage all listeners to hop inside this time machine. A classic. (J.H., 10/16/2004 see all my reviews >> )

Wow. To the reviewer below, I would just have to say that it sounds like a pretty tough crowd you are faced with. DJ's should be training the crowd on what's new in dance music and not serving as a jukebox for MTV and radio fans. As far as not liking Chris Cox's work, I will just have to remain silent on that comment. To each his own I suppose, but if Chris Cox is considered "plug and play", then may he never stop plugging because it never fails to work ..........well, at least in most places! Good luck to you! (J.W., 8/3/2004 see all my reviews >> )

Well. What can I say.. I am another 5 star reviewer...
This song (especially the Chris Cox Remix) is a Kick a$$ track. The first time I played it I had several people come up to the booth and ask me what song was on the turntables...
I had so much positive feedback I had to get on the horn and e-mail debby to thank her personally.. This is definitely one of the summer's anthems!
The crowds absolutely love it!!
Dj Dom Armano (Boston MA)
www.armano.com
(D.A., 7/12/2004 see all my reviews >> )

It's so nice to hear an uplifting club anthem! Chris Cox works it out keeping that Thunderpuss sound alive that I miss hearing. Debby's voice is very unique and strong, I hope to hear more from her in the future! "Dive" will definitely become a legendary club anthem that will be played for many years to come! (D.S., 6/24/2004 see all my reviews >> )

Every other reviewer said it...this is THE summer anthem. It seems as if Chris Cox not only keep the "Thunderpuss" name, but he's doing a damn fine job of keeping the Thunderpuss energy going without sounding too formulaic. Debby's voice is incredible, and all 3 remixers deliver the goods. Scotty K's is almost as good as Chris'! But with a great talent, great song, and great remixers, this song is destined for (gay) stardom...maybe more! Go Debby go! (S.M., 6/21/2004 see all my reviews >> )

I LOVE YOU, DEBBY!!!!!!!!! (M.H., 6/18/2004 see all my reviews >> )

Wow....goosebumps....it's been a long time since a song has done that to me. Both Chris Cox and Scotty K's mixes are great. I guess I'll have to break my rule that I never play a song twice in one night. B.F. (DJ Billy Franks, 6/18/2004 see all my reviews >> )

Absolutely amazing track, it's been ages I haven't heard such an uplifting chorus. All of the remixes are really good indeed but I have the feeling that Chris Cox just might take the cup. And what a voice this girl has! (J.J., 6/18/2004 see all my reviews >> )

It is currently #1 on my top 20... -- DJ X. (P.H., 6/18/2004 see all my reviews >> )

What a great backstory! This is one we'll be hearing all throughout the summer as it has exploded onto the scene with its positive energy and message. If Debby wants to become a dance music diva she is destined to be one..with a fantastic voice somewhere between Kristine W and Heather Small. (M.M., 6/17/2004 see all my reviews >> )

Wow! This song is an all-out home run for the dance floor! Debby Holiday belts out unbelievable vocals to a well written track that will be around for a long time to come. Of course, Chris Cox delivers as always with an incredible, slamming club anthem that lets us know he is keeping the spirit of Thunderpuss alive and well! His mix here even may eclipse his previous release of Michelle Branch's 'Breathe'. Scotty K and others deliver notable mixes here as well. If you're a DJ, or just a lover of great dance music, you won't go wrong with 'Dive'! (J.W., 6/17/2004 see all my reviews >> )

Hard to pick the best mix, because they're all good. Even the original has potential. This is a track that will be remembered... (j.d., 11/17/2004 see all my reviews >> )

Well I think it's an awesome track but as usual the pathetic losers on my floor want nothing to do with it. Clears the floor over and over. If it's not on the radio or MTV ( ie hiphop)or at least two years old (seriously!!) they want nothing to do with it. As far as mixes, I prefer the Scotty K as I have never been a fan of Cox, his mixes all sound the same to me, too "plug & play". (G.K., 8/2/2004 see all my reviews >> )

The girl's got a great and powerful voice, but the remixes sound very Thunderpuss 2000 (way back in 1999 in fact). Hope she makes it! (D.L., 8/10/2004 see all my reviews >> )

HA HA I just had to post this negative review to break the obscenely long streak of disillusionned 5 star reviews. (Skinnah, 6/30/2004 see all my reviews >> )
