some fierce mixes, the 78 is hot and discoish funky and a fun vibe and the first mix (bad memory due to ...um cigarettes,ya thats right) check it out y'all (A.p., 1/29/2008 see all my reviews >> )
As an old school DJ, I look for tracks to replace my vinyl. My only reason to purchace this was the 1987 titled "1987" mix". Not really expecting the orginal as promised by other CD's; took the chance. Was I blown away. Not only did I get the orginal mix (give or take a minute or 5) but the MaxRoxx blew me away! This is what I call an update to a classic! What upsets me is the fact each NEW release by any artist is raped and picked apart by the latest DJ du jour. Gone are the orginal formats and styles that were ment for the single, all remixed for something you might know only by the words and not even sure of the artist. There I vented. Great Single. Karen Young's original vocal over up-to-date tracks is what makes this release great. Ralphi's classic house treatment lets her shine through. The MaxRoxx mix offers lots more drama. Karen's performance is authentic disco history! It's terrific hearing her scream over tracks that are more current. And they sound fabulous on the dance floor! I love it. B.H.C. GREAT update of a classic disco track! Ralphi & Craig do an excellent job keeping with the feel of the original mix and just giving it a fresher, more current sound. Ralphi once again shows his true house roots in the way he did on his remix of "Changin" by Linda Clifford. DJ Mark Bisson (M.B., 12/15/2007 see all my reviews >> )
The Ralphi Rosario & Craig J Remix of "Hot Shot (The Karen Young Reheat)" is hot, hot, hot!!! Pick this up while you can! (W.A., 12/13/2007 see all my reviews >> )
ralphi's jazzy mix works very well this song.
i'd hate to see a hard version of "hot shot."

These mixes are OK, but for me it's STILL all about the Rollercoaster Club Mix from 1997. (M.N., 12/21/2007 see all my reviews >> )
Ralphi's mix is alright but if you can find it fot the Guido Remix that game out a few years ago....HOTT!!!!! 3 stars for the effort (Joe Flores, 12/13/2007 see all my reviews >> )
I hate to dump on Ralphi too, but something went wrong here. It just squeezes all the life out of the song, which is hard to do because the original was a scorcher. This is Karen Young on Prozac. (r.p., 1/17/2008 see all my reviews >> )
Yawn. Pretty boring update of a classic disco number which fails to pull the track into the 21st Century. I agree with MN; the Rollercoaster Club Mix from 10 years ago is way better as is Barbara Tucker's 'Neo Disco Extended Mix' cover version from 1996! (c.c., 1/12/2008 see all my reviews >> )
Just play the original. (R.W., 12/13/2007 see all my reviews >> )
I find it odd that this 'remix' made it into the top ten on Billboard's Dance Play Charts. But it did. I don't find this in the least bit interesting - none of the remixes do anything to elevate the original beyond its mediocre, modest beginnings. That would have been the only motivation to revive this one. Back in the day, it embodied the reason for the public backlash against disco - it was simply an uninspired pile of vinyl. So why bother? BORING !!!
Prime example of how to totally kill a classic stonedead !! (P.S., 2/14/2008 see all my reviews >> )
None of the remixes bring anything new to the table. In fact if anything they show how good the original version is. (R.K., 1/10/2008 see all my reviews >> )
Another classic that should have been left alone. The new mixes lose the drive and energy that the original possessed. In a word...boring. (C.M., 1/10/2008 see all my reviews >> )
ugh why does ralphi have two sides: the hard "dontcha" side and then the jazzy boring lame side like this that seems to be creeping up more and more lately in his mixes? (Joey Benitez, 12/13/2007 see all my reviews >> )
