Cher is back, and this time she's brought a bevy of remixes along with her to ensure this single reaches the top of the dance charts from here to Botoxville. The first US single from her latest album, Living Proof, "Song For The Lonely" is an excellent tune with all sorts of pretty, sing-a-long lyrics and a chorus that is perhaps the definition of "hands-in-the air." And if the song itself doesn't flip your skunk wig (see inlay card for details), the remixers here certainly will. The single puts its best foot forward with an ideal, peak-hour anthem mix from Almighty, which perfectly revamps the tune for the club. Less appropriate though still enjoyable is Illicit's sunny, T-dance house mix, perfect for that pool party you've been planning since October. Hot on its heels are not one, but two remixes from Barry Harris & Chris Cox, known collectively as Thunderpuss. Their "Sunrise Mix" is absolutely fabulous, delivering everything you'd expect from da 'Puss, with lots of big builds, dramatic crescendos, kitchen sinks, etc., and is without a doubt the standout of the two. So just how bad is their other mix? Well, mama always said if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all... so we'll just choose to sit here in absolute silence.
