It's such a shame Tracy's mix of "Edge of 17" was never released because I have hear it live twice and it's perfection!!!!! (Joey Benitez, 3/7/2009 see all my reviews >> )
Wow !!! is the best way to describe this cd single , I love everything she's done, Including the stuff with fleetwood mac, This song is my favorite from the album "The wild heart" 1982. the video stand back was a huge MTV hit . stand back also is from the album crystal visiones the very best of stevie nicks 2007 CD/DVD. Rockin' the charts with stand back, (P.c., 9/15/2007 see all my reviews >> )
ANOTHER GREAT DANCE CD FOR TRUE LOVERS OF DANCE MUSIC, LOVE IT! LOVE IT ! LOVE IT ! (P.c., 9/6/2007 see all my reviews >> )
one of Stevie's classic, signature tunes finally gets a welcome to the dancefloor. I wish the remixers had done a little better job with remixing the original as someone else said and taken the song to another level rather than simply putting some beats behind it and looping parts. the remixes aren't bad, they're good actually, but lack a little originality on the remixers part. that said, any Stevie release is an immediate purchase for me. I appreciate Perfect Beat's work on getting this released...it'll be great to hear them in full force rather than the crappy iTunes versions. I can't wait for Edge of Seventeen remixes. then, do I Can't Wait! (j.f., 8/29/2007 see all my reviews >> )
None of these mixes do it for me. I'm really not digging them. HOWEVER, it is amazing that PB did what it took to get them in-stock. I won't be buying one but I highly encourage everyone who enjoys something about this release to purchase it. You guys rock, PB! (B.N., 8/24/2007 see all my reviews >> )
This is an excellent new single from Stevie Nicks. For me, this release is all about the Tracy Young Take You Home Mix of "Stand Back". Highly, highly recommended! (W.A., 8/24/2007 see all my reviews >> )
i got this on itunes in june and was wondering if it would ever see the light as a the cd single.
i dont think it helps that giant retailers that used to carry extensive cd singles, like tower records, is gone.
the remixes are excellent. tracy really does take it home with this remix. morgan page (the hottest remixer around!) gives a great 80s feel to it.
other than that, i was disappointed this peaked at #2 on the billboard chart. it had #1 written all over it. (S.L., 8/24/2007 see all my reviews >> )
This is an amazing release. One of Fleetwood Mac's largest hits, made into a collection of excellant mixes. Each one doing something new while making the song amazingly long.Personally, it's Ralphi's & Morgan's that does it for me but,Tracy's deserves a listen simply because of it's length.Buy this...now... like right now! LOVE Tracy's remix of this classic Stevie Nicks song from the 80's. Tracy does a great job maintaining the integrity of the original and making it even more danceable. Great job PB for helping get this released! DJ Mark Bisson (M.B., 8/24/2007 see all my reviews >> )
WOW! I am so happy that Tracy Young is coming to Cleveland (Sat 25 Aug 07)! Since I follow the big vinylgods religiously, I can personally thank her for remixing this vintage classic! Ralphi Rosario and Morgan Page were great, but it is Ms. Young who sets this apart. I just hope I can get a copy for myself before they're all gone! (Erick, 8/24/2007 see all my reviews >> )
I'm actually quite impressed with the Morgan Page remix. This is the only mix that really "reinvents" the song - and also the one that brings Stevie's vocals most prominent out to the forefront. It has a nice rolling bassline similar to the original, and a nice breakdown in the middle. Ralphi's mix is a bit disappointing. Its like everything but the kitchen sink thrown in and its just too much. Also too circuity for this track. Tracy's mix as usual is way overrated - IMO sloppy beats and not much of a hook. Dave Aude's got a mix of this which isn't half bad. Overall, I'm glad to see a Stevie single, but to me "Planets" will always be her crowning club achievement.

The best dance version of this song has yet to be officially "remixed", which would be the live version that I first heard Fleetwood Mac perform in 1987 (it has been a staple of their shows with Stevie ever since). There are elements of that in Ralphi's mix, which is my weapon of choice here. (K.A., 9/29/2007 see all my reviews >> )
Great mixes. Ralphi's Beefy Retro Mix is outstanding!!! This song was remixed back in the 90's by DiscoTech (#11). Out of print. (R.M., 9/27/2007 see all my reviews >> )
"CD singles are dying". It is true when record companies do not release mixes in CD single commercially or do just release EDITS! For remixes fan like me, I ONLY BUY A CD SINGLE WITH FULL VERSIONS (BETTER INCLUDE THE BEST MIX AS WELL). If you record company ppl read our PB comments, we always complain the best remix is missing blablablah. There are some remixes promo CD on ebay. And the final price of these auctions is usually very high. Why? Because these mixes are not available commercially as CD format! Nowadays, many singles only include radio mixes, b-sides or live versions. We don't need them. We'd rather spend more money on the promo copies (note that I'm not talking about CDR promos). So record company people, what are you thinking? Are you those sellers on ebay? If not, please release full versions commercially. Many of us will buy CD singles for sure. At last, i-tune sucks. I won't spend $0.99 on a 128-256kbps song without artwork at all. I LOVE CD QUALITY! PB, sorry I'm not going to buy this because I spent 20USD on the promo CD with the same tracklisting at ebay few months back. (C.K., 8/29/2007 see all my reviews >> )
Okay I-tunes does NOT have the Morgan Page Dub, that is exclusive to the CD release of the track. The CD does NOT have the Radio Edits, those are digital only... I am comfortable with that. One of the remix edits (Morgan Page Radio Edit) was on a Warner Brothers Pride 2007 Sampler that was circulated. This CD release rocks because it has full quality audio and not the BS quality that I-Tunes trys to pawn off as high. As for the remixes, I am a fan of Morgan's mixes... the big anthems are just not doing it for me. I don't need 11 minutes of Stevie Nicks on this track. Dreams, maybe... however not on Stand Back. I will give props to Ralphi for at least offering a solid vocal take on the track at that length. It is really a good mix, but it is about 2 minutes too long for my uses... Thank goodness his Mixshow (great for transitioning into Peak Hour) is included on this package. I give the package 4 stars for having soooo much music on it. (V.S., 8/28/2007 see all my reviews >> )
I received this a few months back, but I didn't think I would care for it. Like I do with almost every new remix I receive, I gave it a listen, and boy was I mistaken! Ralphie, who is on one my top four influence, came oh so close. But, Tracy really brings it "Home" for me. They both did a great job, and even thought I have this, I am going to buy this official release. I try and buy the official release of any remix that I receive, in the way I received this one. Thank You PB! DJ Michael Jay (michael jones, 8/24/2007 see all my reviews >> )
I'm reading the reviews and I don't see anyone mention the Linus Loves version that Breastfed then Data released with Sam Obernik on vocals. This was a better remix package too, maybe go check them out... (C.H., 9/27/2007 see all my reviews >> )
I would play Tracy's mix as I'm driving down the A1A in Florida on a hot summer day, but thats about it.. or maybe doing some slow cardio! (o.a., 11/15/2007 see all my reviews >> )
I'm gonna avoid any bias I might feel over the fact that this is an exclusive track available to us at last, that there are mixes by a couple of hugely popular DJs, that it is one of my all time favorite Stevie songs, and that it is a Stevie Nicks release, and instead be honest about the mixes themselves.
Now that I know there is a Dave Aude mix out there somewhere, I feel both better and bummed that this CD single has some of the most dated sounds out there. If the continuous releases being pushed with these same remixers (I've loved much of their work in the past) are indicitive of the stuff DJs are still spinning in clubs, I'm glad I don't go clubbing anymore. I listen to more 'progressive' sounds in my own home. Honestly, with the modern trends in dance music, spinning the ORIGINAL classic version of Standback would sound more in line with today's dance music than any of these mixes, featuring tribal rhythms from like 10 years ago thrown behind the original vocal, totally robbing the song of its integrity--I've bought better bootleg remixes of old 80s songs than these. The original synth riff could have been exploited to retain the tone of the song and give it a harder modern edge (take a listen to the Steve Angello mix of Euryhtmics' "Sweet Dreams" for an example of retro-goes-mod perfection). Someone PLEASE tell me that the Dave Aude mix is simply brilliant so I can feel some sort of hope for what I'd expected would be a fantastic PB exclusive release. (D.K., 8/30/2007 see all my reviews >> )
First off, I am a HUGE Stevie Nicks fan and this has always been my favorite song of hers. I have been waiting for remixes of this classic to be produced for years. Now that they are a reality, I find that Im not very impressed. Ralphi and Tracy both turn out mixes that just sound like someone laid a dance beat under the original. They really dont take the sone anywhere new. I expected a lot more of Ralphi, though Tracy never fails to suck. The Morgan page mixes are ok, but they arent the best either. This is not a complete package though as both the Hani and Dave Aude remixes are missing. Aude as usual produced the best mixes of everyone involved and its a shame they are not part of this. As for PB getting this pressed, I give them credit. However, it has been available on i-tunes for months and since these mixes first surfaced in April, getting a CD single in August is a bit late. Overall Im glad this project was done, but I wish the results would have been better. (G.K., 8/29/2007 see all my reviews >> )
I'm sorry but this song is very boring and the mixes does not help much.
The Tracy Young's mix of "Planets Of The Universe" (by Stevie Nicks) was REALLY better...
I am disappointed..... (Yecin, 9/11/2007 see all my reviews >> )
